Front-End Developer

Job Type: Permanent full-time (Monday to Friday, 8.45 – 5.30)

Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, UK

You’ll be doing:

Converting Sketch, Adobe XD or Adobe Photoshop designs into HTML, CSS and JS. Integrating front-end code into static and WordPress sites. HTML Email builds. Working with our Designers to develop designs that are aesthetically pleasing and practical to build. Estimating time for tasks to be completed.

We expect from you:

  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Understanding of website optimisation and building for high performance
  • Build SEO’d websites.
  • Standards compliant HTML Email templates
  • Adherence to the W3C’s WCAG
  • Working knowledge of Sketch – the ability to collaborate with UI/UX designers and extract design elements for use on websites
  • Basic understanding of PHP and comfortable working with WordPress (PHP) theme templates
  • Adhere to project Coding Standards such as PSR and WordPress
  • Work with GIT version control. Push, pull, and resolving basic merge conflicts
  • Provide constructive feedback in code reviews

We’d be impressed by:

  • Mac proficiency 
  • Exposure to BEM methodology for HTML and CSS
  • Experience writing Vanilla Javascript (ES6)
  • CSS and JS Animation
  • Understanding of LAMP hosting environment
  • User Acceptance / Visual Regression Testing

You will have experienced:

  • Working in a studio environment
  • Writing code for Cross-browser compatibility
  • Creating a WordPress theme from scratch, without the use of a 3rd party base.
  • Experimenting with the new WordPress (Gutenberg) blocks.
  • Adding new features and modules to legacy codebases
